Genius POS system hardware setup

What are the hardware requirements to operate the Genius Point of Sales (POS) system? 

To start using GeniusPOS system, the following hardware are needed:

1) Any version of iPad operating with iOS 5 or above: Not included in the package

2) LAN thermal printer: Included in the package
    The system works with printers with ethernet interface (USB, parallel or serial port will not work) 
    Multiple thermal printers can be linked for multiple print locations

3) Cash drawer: Included in the package
    The cash drawer must have a RJ11 connector (phone jack)

4) Wi-Fi router: Included in the package
    
5) iPad stand: Included in the package

6) LAN Kitchen/Bar printer. Optional
    You may consider more than one printer to suit your business

7) iPad Terminal. Not included in the package.
    Licence for iPad terminal can be purchased when you decide to add terminals

8) iPod/iPhone Terminal. Not included in the package.
    Licence for iPhone/iPod terminal can be purchased when you decide to add terminals

 

How to setup all the above hardware?

1) Make sure you have downloaded Genius Pos from email installation link. Refer to "App installation & general settings" if you haven't. 

2) Setup your LAN thermal printer. First connect the thermal printer to a power socket. For ease of installation, the router should be placed at the nearest point to all printers. Connect the LAN cable (yellow cable) from your printer to the router, print out the configuration slip from the printer and obtain the IP address. We can help setup the IP address for all the thermal printers. 

3) Connect your cash drawer to the printer's RJ11 port (telephone jack, the black cable). The cash register do not require power, and there is only one jack that fits the printer.

4) To test, enter our application under Settings -> Printers. Enter the printer's IP address, port default to 9100, select the printer model and click on test print. Your printer will print out a demo receipt & the cash drawer will pop. 


How to add more terminals for ordering purposes?

Genius POS system can cater for multiple mobile order terminals, hence reducing the time to take orders and send orders to the bar or kitchen.

Instead of floor staff having to walk to the primary station (at the cashier or a fixed order station), they can be equiped with Genius mobile terminals on their iPhone, iPod or iPad.

The floor staff takes the orders straight from the table, sends the order to the cashier printer and to the kitchen printer via the router.

The order is done and what's left to do is to serve. It's that fast, simple and flexible.

Each terminal app licence is sold separately.
